WLIM maintains a staff of chaplains, a deaconess and lay volunteers who bring the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ to people in prisons & jails, hospitals, nursing homes & care centers, child & adolescent treatment centers/juvenile detention facilities, mental health and drug & alcohol treatment centers. We also offer ministry programming through Grace Oasis, a drug and alcohol recovery ministry, Anderson Prison Ministry, which distributes thousands of easy-to-read New Testament Bibles, and a Volunteer Lay Ministry.
PRISONS & JAILS
Through worship services, Bible classes, counseling, tract and Bible distribution, WLIM strives to meet the spiritual needs of the expanding prison population. Presently, WLIM is ministering to inmates at all of the major Wisconsin correctional institutions, the Milwaukee County Jail and the Milwaukee County Correctional Facility-South utilizing staff chaplains and part-time WELS pastors.
WLIM encourages a growing outreach ministry to inmates in county jails, organized and led by lay volunteers from area WELS congregations. Volunteers conduct Bible classes, distribute tracts and Bibles and do Christian one-on-one visits with hundreds of inmates on a weekly basis.

HOSPITALS
WLIM's staff chaplains are reaching out to the unchurched by providing a ministry of encouragement and counseling. This ministry is given to patients and their families primarily in intensive care, rehabilitation, cancer and bone marrow transplant, orthopedic and post -surgical floors of Milwaukee and Madison, WI area hospitals. In addition to this ministry, the chaplains also offer a ministry of support to out of town WELS members and other Christians with whom they come in contact.

NURSING HOME & CARE CENTERS
Presently, a number of WELS pastors, a WLIM staff minister and WLIM staff chaplains minister to residents in nursing homes by providing weekly worship services and Bible classes. They also respond to referrals from nurses and make individual visits to provide counseling and encouragement to the aged.
WLIM encourages a growing outreach ministry to nursing home and care center residents, organized and led by lay volunteers from local WELS congregations. Volunteers conduct Bible classes, distribute tracts and Bibles and do Christian one-on-one visits with hundreds of residents on a weekly basis.

CHILD & ADOLESCENT TREATMENT CENTERS / JUVENILE DETENTION
Weekly Bible classes, church services, group counseling and one-on-one counseling are offered to the increasing numbers of children and adolescents, both boys and girls, at child & adolescent treatment and juvenile detention facilities.
Special emphasis is placed on sharing the love of God and forgiveness for the children who have, in may cases, been physically or sexually abused.

MENTAL HEALTH and DRUG & ALCOHOL TREATMENT CENTERS
Gospel-oriented individual counseling as well as group discussions are conducted by WLIM chaplains with people in drug and alcohol rehabilitation. People with mental and emotional disorders are also being visited and encouraged with God's love and promises.
WLIM encourages a growing outreach ministry to people in mental health facilities and to those recovering from substance abuse, organized and led by lay volunteers from area WELS congregations. Volunteers conduct Bible classes, distribute tracts and Bibles and do Christian one-on-one visits with hundreds of residents on a weekly basis.

GRACE OASIS
A growing part of WLIM's outreach ministry to people with mental health and/or substance abuse is the Grace Oasis Christian fellowship program, a gathering place for people recovering from drug & alcohol addictions and mental health issues. Grace Oasis is conducted every Friday night at Salem Ev. Lutheran Church-Cramer St. on Milwaukee's east side and at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Waukesha, WI.
Grace Oasis programming includes Christian fellowship, Bible classes, singing, one-on-one listening and refreshments in a loving, Gospel-oriented environment.

ANDERSON PRISON MINISTRY
Anderson Prison Ministry distributes thousands of free Everyday American English (EAE) New Testament Bibles each year to inmates in prisons and jails throughout the United States.
The New Testament was translated by Pastor Julian Anderson from the original Greek language into simple everyday American English (EAE), making it a popular and easy-to-read accurate translation of the New Testament Bible.
WLIM utilizes the Everyday American English (EAE) New Testament in many ministry opportunities. Bible study lessons provided by WLIM often reference the EAE New Testament Bible due to its easy-to-read format.

VOLUNTEER LAY MINISTRY
Hundreds of concerned WELS Christians serve as lay ministry volunteers, conducting weekly Bible lessons for residents at nursing homes and care centers and mental health and drug & alcohol treatment facilities. Volunteers also perform valuable ministry at Grace Oasis, WLIM's outreach program to people recovering from drug & alcohol addiction and mental health issues.
Volunteers also conduct Bible lessons at a number of state correctional institutions and area county jails. Other concerned Christian volunteers perform services for the WLIM ministry such as mailings, data entry and other related activities.
